Hi! Thank you so, so much for coming! I’m Lauren, the decor mama! I came up with this name and page because I love renovating, decorating, and a good DIY! I also love that I get to share all that we do with you guys! I say we, because I couldn’t do this without my husband who takes all my crazy ideas and makes them into a reality. Together we have transformed our last three houses, and plan on sharing all that we’ve learned along the way with you! We hope you love all our tips and tricks as much as we have!
I first got the idea to start this blog because I am super social and felt like I needed an outlet to connect with other people, aka adults! Ha! Over my years as a mom, I’ve found some things that work well for us, and I wanted to share those ideas with others. Trust me, I am so far from being an expert DIYer or decorator, it’s not even funny, but over the years I have learned a lot about renovating and decorating. So here I am, wanting to share my knowledge with you guys. I guess that is the former teacher in me coming out. I’m still learning a lot, and hoping to learn even more along my blogging journey.
I’m an Arizona native who happens to be married to the most amazing man (biased, yes!), who is from England. We luckily ended up at the same college thanks to our love for soccer. We both received soccer scholarships to GCU, a university in Arizona, and the rest is history! We now have three super cute, super active little boys, that are six, four, and two years old. Yes, that makes me a boy mom, and boy (pun intended:), am I ever! These little boys are no joke between their fearlessness and energy levels! Thankfully, they love to get down and dirty with us, so we have at least one extra helper at all times.
I also used to be a third grade teacher, which I planned on doing forever, but the second I held my oldest son, all of those plans changed! I never wanted to leave his sight. Ha! Poor kid! Thankfully for his and his brothers sake I’ve loosened up the ropes a bit since then. So just like that, I gave up teaching and decided to try out the stay at home mom thing. I now am a very full time mom, and very, very part time aesthetician at a doctor’s office, which I like to call my paid days off. It’s my day that I get to talk to adults without having to interrupt the conversation to wipe the boogers off of my shirt! I LOVE that I get to be so involved in my kid’s lives, but yet, get one “adult” day to keep me on the sane side of things.
My love for DIY and home decor started when we moved into our first house nine years ago, then grew even stronger when I became a stay at home mom, and then really grew when we bought our first reno job, which was our cabin up north. We live in Arizona where it gets super HOT in the summer, so we decided to buy a place an hour and a half away from us that is in the forest and so much cooler. When you have three energetic boys, getting a place where they can finally get outside again during those hot summer months, is almost a necessity! We didn’t want to spend a ton of money, and wanted this to also be an investment for us. With those things in mind, we decided to get really crazy (or stupid😉) and buy the worst cabin with the most potential. So there we were; my husband, me, our two year old, and three month old, ready to take on a huge renovation job all by ourselves. Yikes! Thankfully we have an amazing friend who is a contractor who did a ton of work with us, and taught us so much stuff along the way. It took us almost two years to finish (with the kids it was a long, slow process!), but we did it! That’s when we caught the reno bug, and decided to do the same thing to our next house that we moved to. I told you we were crazy! Now it’s done (for the most part! You home owners know how it goes, your house is never completely done, right!?), and we love the final outcome! I’ve learned a lot of neat stuff along the way, and I can’t wait to share those things with you!
Yep, that pretty much sums me up; lucky wife, boy mom to the max who loves to decorate and try anything DIY.
Thank you SO very, very much for visiting my blog! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed creating it! Life can be hard, and I’m here to find any way to help make life a little better, happier, and more cutely decorated place.😄 Enjoy, and thank you again!!
XO,
Lauren Hague
